Mr Brave Yu was appointed as our Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer on 18 April 2007. Mr Yu is responsible for the overall management such as the operational and financial matters of our Group. As the person responsible for overall setup of CHSZ, he has been closely involved in our operations since 1996.
Mr Yu served in the Taiwan military where he last held the rank of Major. In 1988, he entered the PCBA industry as factory director of Top-World Electronics Co. Ltd, a company which used to provide PCBA services in Taiwan, and he was in charge of overseeing the entire operations of the company’s factory up till 1996.
From 1996 to 1999, Mr Yu was the head of CHSZ’s factory and was in charge of its factory operations such responsibilities included monitoring and overseeing CHSZ’s provision of PCBA services. Thereafter, from 1999 to 2003, he took on the role as CHSZ’s General Manager, and in addition to being responsible for CHSZ’s general operations, he also handled aspects such as its business development, and development of its sales and operations. With the acquisition of the Suzhou Companies (which included CHSZ) by Lead Data Inc ("LeadData") in February 2002, Mr Yu (one of the founders of the Suzhou Companies) served on the board of directors of Lead Data as a representative of the founders of the Suzhou Companies between May 2002 and June 2007. Since 2003, he has been serving as the President of CHSZ, CHSY and CHTJ. Mr Yu has led the team in the development of their sales and operations, successfully establishing business ties with the Samsung Group, the LG Group and Philips Consumer Electronics Co. Ltd..
He holds a college qualification in aerial administration from the Taiwan National Political University.
Mr C.K. Liang was appointed as our Executive Director of Process Engineering on 20 July 2007. He has been with us since 1999 and is responsible for providing technical support and overseeing the process engineering aspect of the PCBA process.
Mr Liang has more than thirty years working experience in SMT/AI/MI, with experience in Taiwan, Malaysia, and the PRC. He started out as a manufacturing manager with Trans-World Electronics Co. Taiwan in 1972. From 1979 to 1990, he was the President of Liu Zhuang Electronics (Taiwan) Co. Ltd., a company which engages in PCBA Services. In 1990, he was appointed the President of Hengda Electronics (Malaysia) Co., Ltd. and was in charge of its AI process. Subsequently, he joined Xinya Electronics (Taiwan) Co., Ltd as a factory director responsible for its AI operations.
He founded Kinghong Electronics (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in 1999, a SMT-based PCBA service provider. In February 2002, Lead Data acquired Kinghong Electronics (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. and merged its operations with Suzhou Sheng Hong Electronics Co., Ltd. and CHSZ. Between June 2003 and June 2007, Mr Liang (one of the founders of the Suzhou Companies) served on the board of directors of Lead Data as representative of the founders of and of the Suzhou Companies. Subsequent to the merger, Mr Liang served as the Vice Manager of CHSZ.
Mr Liang holds a junior college certificate from Zhong Xing Senior Vocational School in Taiwan.
Mr Vincent Liu was appointed as our Executive Director, Group Finance, and our Chief Treasury Officer on 20 July 2007. Mr Liu is responsible for the full spectrum of financial, taxation and treasury functions of our Group, including budgeting, forecasting, statutory reporting to relevant authorities in the respective jurisdictions that our Group operates in, internal controls and compliance with corporate, legal, accounting and operational requirements and treasury management including management relationships with relevant financial institutions and conducting feasibility studies of projects.
In addition to these responsibilities, Mr Liu works closely with our Executive Chairman and CEO, Mr Brave Yu, in conducting strategic planning for our Group’s development. Mr Liu has been with us since early 2002, having first served as CHSZ’s finance and accounting manager in April 2002 where he was in charge of handling full sets of accounts, updating of management accounts and submitting tax returns and documents. Thereafter he was promoted to Group Finance Chief in late 2004. As Group Finance Chief, he continued to be responsible for, and led a team of accountants to oversee, the aforesaid accounting, taxation and treasury functions and was additionally responsible for coordinating and management of all the accounts and liabilities functions, preparing of budgets with financial analysis, and all other aspects of our Group’s accounting system.
Before joining our Group, Mr Liu worked for Libon Capital Management Co., a Taiwanese venture capital management firm as an investment manager from 1999 to 2001 and was involved in investment ventures which include deal flow and due diligence, and portfolio management. From 1997 to 1999, he served as an assistant manager in Tai-Yu Security (as it was then known), an investment bank, specialising in initial public offerings and secondary public offerings in Taiwan. Over his ten-year career, Mr Liu has acquired experience in the legal aspects, investment, finance and accounting, and capital markets, and also possesses knowledge of the PRC’s operating practices.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (majoring in industrial engineering) from Chung Yuan Christian University, and a Masters in Business and Administration (majoring in finance and marketing) from National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan.
Mr Dick Lin was appointed as our Non-Executive Director on 13 September 2007.
Mr Lin worked for Trans-World Electronics Co., one of the leading electronics firms in Taiwan in the 1970s and 1980s, of which he later became Vice President. Since the late 1980s, Trans-World Electronics Co. has rendered electronic manufacturing services to well-known Taiwanese electronics companies such as WYSE Technology Inc. and Tatung Company. In 1988, Dick Lin founded Top-World Electronics Co. Ltd, a company which used to provide PCBA services in Taiwan. In 1996, he co-founded CHSZ with Brave Yu. In both companies, he held non-executive roles and assisted the companies to establish new business contacts and to explore new business opportunities.
Between January 2004 and August 2007, Mr Lin was the general manager of Lead Data. He was responsible for the overall management and new business development for Lead Data Group. He was also responsible for the formulation of the overall business strategies and policies for the Lead Data Group, as well as Lead Data Group’s overall marketing and business development. Mr Lin was appointed as the chairman of the board of directors of Lead Data on 13 June 2007. As the chairman, Mr Lin is responsible for the strategic development and chartering of the direction of the Lead Data Group. Since 2004, Mr Lin has been instrumental in enhancing Lead Data’s overall competitiveness and the implementation of its business development in optical storage and multimedia products.
Throughout the 30 years of his career, Mr Lin has acquired vast management experience in the fields of electronics manufacturing and product development.
Mr Lin holds a diploma from the Chung Hwa Institute of Technology in Taiwan.
Dr Tan Khee Giap was appointed our Lead Independent Director on 13 September 2007.
From April 1987 to March 1990, Dr. Tan was a treasury manager with OCBC Bank. From April 1990 to March 1993, he was an Assistant Professor with the National University of Singapore. Since 1995, he has been an Associate Professor of Banking and Finance at the Nanyang Business School. Currently, he is also an Associate Dean of the Graduate Studies Office at the Nanyang Technological University.
Dr Tan is currently an independent director of Hi-P International Limited, a company listed on the Mainboard of the SGX-ST, and which is in the business of contract manufacturing services and precision plastic injection moulding, and is chairman of its Audit Committee and Nomination Committee.
Dr Tan holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. Dr. Tan has also received the Overseas Development Groups Award from the University of East Anglia from 1983-1984 and the UK University Vice-Chancellor’s Committee Award from 1984-1987.
Mr Owen Chen was appointed our Independent Director on 13 September 2007.
After his graduation from the International Taiwan Ocean University in 1978, he first worked as a crew member in a shipping company, Nice Shipping Co., Ltd . Thereafter, he was a quality control inspector with Mei-Qi Shoe Making Co until around 1982.
From 1982 to 1992, he was a sales manager responsible for the marketing activities of a coal trading company, P&C Bituminous Coal. Mr Chen was the chairman of Sino-Indo Company Ltd., a company in the business of coal trading, from 1992 to 1996 and was responsible for its general operations.
From 2002 to 2006, Mr Chen also served as the general manager of Ehand Technology Co., Ltd., a company that manufactures backlights board. He was in charge of its general operations. Since 1996, he has been the director of Efficiency Corp., a company that was also in the business of coal trading, and he has been in charge of its marketing. Since 1996, he is also the General Manager of Yeoman Bulky Corp., a trading company.
Mr Chen graduated with a Bachelor of maritime studies from the International Taiwan Ocean University.
Violet Toh was appointed our Independent Director on 13 September 2007.
Ms Toh has over 20 years of experience as a certified public accountant. Ms Toh was an audit senior at Ng Kong Yau & Co from 1980 to 1981 where she was in-charge of audit, taxation and corporate secretarial services. From 1981 to 1984, Ms Toh worked for the Auditor-General’s Office (AGO) Singapore as a project officer. From 1984 to 1995, Ms Toh was a senior accountant holding finance responsibilities, including that of payroll, with Trans-Island Bus Services Ltd. From 1995 to 2000, Ms Toh was the finance manager for the Golden Horse group of companies, which had an annual turnover of more than S$20 million, after which between 2000 and 2005, she served as a financial controller for Fornet International Pte Ltd, which was mainly in the business of optical storage media. Since then, she has been an executive director with Hott International Pte Ltd, which is in the business of industrial hardware and trading, and she currently oversees its operations.
Ms Toh is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore as well as the Institute of Estate Agents. Ms Toh holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) from the Nanyang University.
